It was another solid wool sale in Napier. There seems to be not much difference in price between the differing lengths for each style grade. The feeling in the sale room was buoyant with an even spread of purchases.

Compared to the sale on the 11th July 2019 the market could be quoted: Fleece: 35 Micron Good Style – 3 to 4% Dearer; 37 Micron & Stronger Good Style – Up to 5% Cheaper; Good/Average Style – Par to Unchanged.

Second Shear: 75/100 mm Good Style – 2 to 3% Cheaper; Good Average Style – Unchanged; 50/100mm Good Style – Up to 7% Dearer; Good/Average Style – 2 to 3% Cheaper; 50/75mm Good Style – Up to 3% Dearer.

Lambs: 28 Micron – Par to Unchanged; 29 Micron – 3 to 4% Cheaper; 30 Micron – 3 to 4% Cheaper; 31 Micron – Up to 1% Cheaper.

Second Shear Bellies & Pieces: 50/100mm – 12 to 13% Dearer;

Principal buyers were the United Kingdom, Western Europe, Middle East, India, China, Australia and the New Zealand Carpet Mills.

The passing rate on growers accounts were around 2%.

The next Napier sale is scheduled for the 8th August 2019.
