Established in 1969 at the 38th IWTO Congress in Paris, the International Association of Wool Textile Laboratories, better known as Interwoollabs, is a member-owned, not-for profit organisation with 96 members from 29 countries.

For laboratories involved in the testing of wool tops using the IWTO test methods for either Airflow, OFDA, Laserscan, Almeter and Projection Microscope, Interwoollabs provide the platform to benchmark and check testing accuracy through Round Trials held twice annually. Successful participation in Interwoollabs’ fully independent twice yearly Round Trials guarantees Interwoollabs Accreditation, recognised throughout the industry as a seal of quality.

Interwoollabs enjoy an exceptional reputation for testing accuracy. A testament to the important role that Interwoollabs play in the global wool industry, the organisation has seen its membership grow by 20 members in the past four years.

‘Members enjoy the best reputation globally, something we are very proud of,’ Andrew Lambert, the recently appointed Secretary General, told IWTO. ‘Transparency and quality assurance are ever more important when competing in a global market place and Interwoollabs helps its members achieve this.’

Like many IWTO Members, Interwoollabs sees a strong demand for wool as crucial for a thriving future wool industry, with continued investment in the promotion and modernisation of the wool fibre brand and image as a way to achieve that.

Mr Lambert looks forward to meeting the wider IWTO Membership and to building relationships within the wool industry community. Look for him at upcoming IWTO events, or contact him through the IWTO Members Lounge directory.
