Lempriere Australia has announced its merger with CS Agriculture Pty Ltd in Australia. CS Agriculture owns and runs Cubbie Station, Australia’s largest cotton farm. In a deal that was officially announced in May, William Lempriere will step away from the business to focus on other interests.

This newly formed Australian Group is owned by the privately owned Chinese textile group Shandong Ruyi that has confirmed its commitment to Lempriere independence and autonomy with day-to-day operations remaining unchanged, under long time CEO Michael Davis.

Lempriere is one of the oldest wool trading companies in Australia, founded in 1857.Today Lempriere has interests in Australia, New Zealand, North America, South America, South Africa, Asia and Europe. This season in Australia it was the fourth largest buyer at auction, purchasing some 7% of the national clip, with 111,557 bales of predominantly Merino fleece.

Angus Hooke, wool trading manager at Lempriere in Melbourne said ‘it is business as usual and we are now presented with exciting opportunities to grow our current business and develop further our global sourcing.’
