The Penultimate sale of the 2015 summer season took place, with 96 112 kg’s on offer. The offering consisted of good quality individual clips, with 92% of the offering being sold.

The average market indicator gained 4% from the previous sale, to close on R194.29 per kg. This increase was driven by strong demand from the East for the adult sector of the clip.

The kid and young goat’s sector experienced some downward pressure and closed slightly lower from its previous levels, mainly due to uncertainty from Europe. The 79% sales clearance in the kid sector improved substantially, with good after sales being conducted by brokers.

A highest price of R515.00 per kg was paid for a bale of good style 26 micron kid mohair.

Compared to the previous sale, prices were as follows:

Kids (summer) Down 2.7%

Young Goats (summer) Down 2%

Fine Adults Up 4%

Strong Adults Up 8%

Average Up 4%
