The South Island selection comprising a wide range of wool types with Merino, Mid Micron and Crossbreds saw varied support determined by targeted buying with an all over firm result.

 

Of the 6000 bales on offer, 79 percent sold. The weighted indicator for the main trading currencies was up 0.79 percent.

 

Compared to the sale on 18th August – Merino Fleece were firm to 3 percent easier, Mid Micron Fleece 25.5 to 27 microns were 1.5 to 5 percent dearer, with 27.5 to 30 microns firm to 3 percent cheaper.

 

Fine Crossbred Fleece 32.5 to 34 microns was 2.5 to 5 percent dearer with 35 microns 2 percent cheaper. Fine Crossbred Shears 33.5 to 35 microns were 1 percent easier. Coarse Crossbred Fleece was up to 2 percent cheaper. Coarse Shears 3/5 inches were firm to 2 percent cheaper, 3/4 inch firm to 1 percent dearer, 2/4 inch 3 to 4 percent dearer with 2/3 inch 2 percent cheaper. Oddments 2/4 inches and longer were 2 to 4 percent dearer with 2/3 inches 2 percent cheaper.

 

Well spread interest with targeted buying within each category. Western Europe dominated the finer wools supported by China with Australasia and the Middle East active on coarser types with support from China and India.

 

Main buyers:  Masurel 1000 bales, NZ Wool Services 900, Bloch & Behrens 850, Fuhrmann 600, G. Modiano 475, J Marshall 350, JS Brooksbank 350, Chargeurs 200, G. Schneider 110.

 

Next sale on 1st September comprises approximately 6700 bales from the North Island.
