All market indicators have taken a major correction in line with other global wool market trends as some uncertainty is starting to affect economic confidence in textile producing countries. It was observed that the better prepared and presented lots certainly found higher levels of demand on the buyers’ market.


Compared to the previous Christchurch sale, held 11th October Xbd fleece 30 to 35 microns 2% cheaper. Xbd fleece 35.1 microns and stronger were 2 to 3% cheaper. Xbd 2nd shear was buyers’ favour. Xbd oddments were 1 to 3% cheaper. Mid-micron 25 to 30 micron were 4 to 7% cheaper with the less stylish ones most affected. Merino wools were 4 to 6% cheaper with those under 17.5 microns most affected. 19% was passed in failing to reach grower reserves.
