North Island 8500 bales offered for sale.  South Island 10800 bales offered for sale – the offering was made up of approx. – 24% Xbd Fleece, 19% Xbd 2nd Shear and early shorn, 8.5% Hgt fleece and early shorn, 8% 1st lambs, balance  2nd Shear Odds, XBD bulky oddments and misc. The market compared to the last South Island sale 11th January 2018: XBD Fleece BB to BB/B style was par to 3% dearer, B style par to 3% dearer , B/C style was par to 3% dearer. XBD 2nd shear and early shorn BB to BB/B style  a small lift (1%). XBD Hgt Fleece and Early shorn.

A small offering with a greater differential between finer and coarser types, favouring the finer wools.

Passings CPW 8.4% overall 9%

The only good news is that prices held reasonably well given the dollar lifting to 0 .742c.

Next sale on the 1st February with approximately 8,268 bales.
