South Island Sale. For the last sale of the season the market finished largely unchanged for most wool types compared to the previous Christchurch sale held last week. Some of the less stylish wools saw the market move against them but those better prepared and better coloured wools held their ground. A limited offering of finer wools still continues to see strong competition from a full gallery of buyers.

Compared to the previous Christchurch sale Xbd fleece 31 to 35 microns 1 to 2% dearer on a limited offering. Xbd fleece 35.1 microns and stronger were largely unchanged for more stylish lots to 2% cheaper for less stylish ones. Xbd 2nd shear was unchanged. Xbd Lambs 27 to 29.98 microns were 1 to 2% dearer. Xbd lambs 30.0 to 33 microns were 2 to 3% cheaper. Xbd oddments were 1 to 2% dearer. Mid-micron wools were 1 to 3% dearer, with the more stylish ones most affected. 16% was passed in failing to reach grower reserves.

North Island Sale. There was a price correction at the Napier wool sale this morning. The very good styled second shears that were presented today sold very well along with a few lines of fleece wool. Long oddments were again in hot demand and were about 3% dearer.
