Continued shipping pressure for China kept Finer Crossbreds firm however coarse wools eased as volumes available increase. The weighted indicator remained unchanged compared to the last sale on 21st May.

 

Of the 8,900 bales on offer, 94 percent sold.

 

Fine Crossbred longer shears remained firm with shorter types lifting between 2 and 6 percent.

 

Good colour coarse fleece were firm to 1.5 percent easier, average style firm and poor colour 2.5 to 5.5 percent dearer.

 

Long Coarse Shears were firm to 3.5 percent cheaper with shorter types down 4 to 6 percent.

 

Long Lambs Fleece were 3.5 percent dearer, 2 to 4 inches up 1 to 2 percent with shorter types firm to 4 percent cheaper.

 

Long Oddments were 4 to 7 percent dearer with good colour short oddments 4 percent dearer and poor colour 3 to 6 percent easier.

 

Good competition with China continuing to dominate, supported by Australasia, India, Middle East and Western Europe.

 

Main buyers : Masurel 2200 bales, Fuhrmann 1500, NZ Wool Services 1250, I.W.L 980,

J S Brooksbank 950, Ascot 950, G Modiano 300, W.E.N.Z 185.

 

Next sale on 4th June comprises approximately 7,100 bales from the South Island.
