UK Wool Market Report (28 March 2017)
The fifteenth sale of the 2016/17 Season was held by the British Wool Marketing Board at Wool House and offered 2,278,637 kgs. Another strong sale with well spread competition and prices increasing. The clearance was 95% of a large offering.
Compared to last time sold: Fine types: 8% dearer. Medium types: Good colour firm, Discoloureds up to 14% dearer. Romney types: Up to 2% dearer. Mule types: 2.5-7.5% dearer. Cheviot types: Up to 7% dearer. Radnor types: 2.5-7% dearer. Welsh types: 2% dearer. Swaledale types: 2.5% dearer. Blackface types: 1.5-3% dearer.
Average price was 110 pence/kg, Indicator greasy was 120 p/kg, Indicator Clean was 173 pkg.
