AMEC-AMTEX (Spanish Association of Textile Machinery Manufacturers) signed a letter of intent with the authorities of Binzhou, in the province of Shandong, to create a technological center by co-operating with the Textile University of Binzhou.
The project has two objectives. A training center will be set up for technicians to master the use of Spanish textile machines and to promote Spanish textile machinery to the emerging Chinese market. This will facilitate knowledge within the Chinese textile industry about Spanish textile machinery and will create and consolidate trading ties between these two countries.
Contacts between AMEC-AMTEX and the authorities of Binzhou started during the celebration of the Spanish-Chinese forum organized by ICEX (Spanish Foreign Trade Institute) in Beijing last October. In response to this invitation from the Chinese authorities, the AMTEX delegation – led by its President, Mr. Ignacio Verdós – traveled to Binzhou to negotiate a contract. This occurred in April of this year.
The AMEC-AMTEX delegation visited the Textile University of Binzhou and was welcome by its Dean. This university has a total number of 100,000 students, and up to 3,000 undertake courses in textile engineering. AMEC-AMTEX also visited the Economic Development Industrial Park, where major textile companies are located.
After the first phase of negotiations with Chinese authorities and the Textile University of Binzhou, AMEC-AMTEX signed a letter of intent with the City Hall of Binzhou to build a technological center. Under this agreement AMTEX would install the latest machinery in the pilot plant with support from the Spanish government. Chinese local authorities pledged to give the land, build the facilities and facilitate the infrastructure needed to accommodate the technological center.
This letter of intent was signed by the Mayor of Binzhou and Mr. Ignacio Verdós. |
